During this visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation for 44 development projects worth ₹3,880 crore, focusing on rural upliftment, power infrastructure, and urban beautification.

Prime Minister Modi received a rousing welcome upon arrival at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath joined him in Mehdiganj, where the PM addressed a public gathering. To beat the summer heat and ensure rural participation, the venue was strategically set on the Ring Road, just outside city limits.
Major Announcements and Project Inaugurations: The PM Modi Varanasi Visit 2025 included significant rural development initiatives like the inauguration of 130 drinking water schemes, 100 Anganwadi centers, and several road projects to improve connectivity in remote areas.
Law Enforcement Enhancements:
- Inauguration of a transit hostel at Police Lines
- New police barracks in Ramnagar
- Construction of four rural roads
Urban Beautification & Infrastructure:
- Beautification at Shastri Ghat and Samne Ghat
- Three flyovers and several road-widening projects
- Renovation of government schools
- Foundation stones laid for stadiums in Shivpur and UP College
- Airport expansion including tunnel-laying projects
Power & Energy Sector:
- ₹2,250 crore worth projects including:
- 15 new power substations
- 1,500 km of new power lines
- Installation of transformers
- New 220 kV substation at Chaukaghat to support uninterrupted 24-hour power supply
Robust Security Measures
To ensure safety during the high-profile visit, 4,000 personnel from the police, PAC, and paramilitary forces were deployed. The arrangement included:
- 6 SPs, 8 Additional SPs, and 33 COs
- Rooftop deployment, CCTV, and drone surveillance
- Controlled entry through strict frisking and checkpoints
A City Celebrates
According to BJP City President Pradeep Agrahari, party workers showered flowers, played drums, and blew conches in celebration of the Prime Minister’s arrival. Streets of Varanasi were adorned with welcome hoardings, posters, and enthusiastic crowds, symbolizing a strong connection between the city and its MP.
