New Delhi, May 10 – In a strong military response to Pakistan’s recent drone and missile attacks on Indian cities and military sites, the Indian Air Force (IAF) launched precision airstrikes early this morning targeting major Pakistan Air Force (PAF) installations.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed in a government briefing that India hit only military targets and ensured minimal collateral damage.
“Pakistan military targets at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian were engaged using air-launched precision weapons. Radar stations at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation base were also destroyed,” she said.
Why These Targets Were Chosen
The Indian military selected targets strategically to cripple Pakistan’s capability to launch aerial strikes using drones and fighter jets.
Here’s a breakdown of the key targets:
🛫 PAF Base Chaklala (Now Nur Khan Airbase) – Rawalpindi
- Headquarters of Pakistan’s Air Mobility Command
- Houses Saab 2000 AEW&C aircraft, used for surveillance and coordination of drone/missile attacks
- Played a central role in recent cross-border operations
🛩️ PAF Base Rafiqui – Punjab, Pakistan
- Base for advanced Mirage and JF-17 squadrons
- Acts as a training and operational hub for missions in Punjab and Kashmir
- Was a key launch point for Pakistan’s recent air raids
PAF Base Murid – Punjab, Pakistan
- Headquarters of Pakistan’s drone operations
- Hosts Shahpar-I, Bayraktar TB2, and Akinci drones
- Hundreds of drones launched from this base in past 48 hours, many for surveillance, some armed
- Most drones neutralized by Indian air defences
India’s Strategic Intent
According to Wing Commander Singh, the strikes were aimed at neutralizing Pakistan’s offensive capabilities, especially:
- Drone launch sites
- Air surveillance radars
- Fighter jet deployment centers
She emphasized that India remains committed to peace and non-escalation, as long as Pakistan reciprocates.
Background: Operation Sindoor
These targeted airstrikes come after India’s earlier Operation Sindoor, launched to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The operation aimed to dismantle terror camps in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
Conclusion
India’s measured yet firm response reflects a clear message: Aggression will be met with precision. The government continues to monitor the situation closely, while reaffirming its commitment to peace — if Pakistan chooses the same path.
