Soldier Martyred in Udhampur Encounter During Anti-Terror Operation
In a tragic incident on Thursday, an Indian Army soldier was martyred in Udhampur during an encounter with terrorists. The incident took place in the Dudu-Basantgarh area of Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces had launched a joint operation based on specific intelligence inputs about terrorist presence.
The soldier martyred in Udhampur sustained grievous injuries during the initial exchange of fire. Despite all medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. According to the Army’s White Knight Corps, “A joint operation was launched in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Contact was established with the terrorists and a fierce gunfight broke out.”
Operations are ongoing in the region to eliminate any remaining threats.
This encounter comes just two days after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 people were killed, including two foreign tourists. The recent wave of terrorist activity in the Union Territory has put the entire security grid on high alert.
In response to the Pahalgam attack, India has taken several diplomatic measures including downgrading ties with Pakistan, expelling Pakistani military officials, suspending the Indus Water Treaty, and closing the Attari land border.
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed security forces to maintain a state of high alert and ensure that all perpetrators of these attacks are brought to justice.
The sacrifice of the soldier martyred in Udhampur stands as a reminder of the bravery and resilience of India’s armed forces in their fight against terrorism.
